Webinar on Principles of ensuring data integrity

Updated: Mar 14, 2019

Good data management is often overlooked by busy academics and researchers – but it’s a critical part of day-to-day pharmacometrics.

This webinar was presented by Joel S. Owen live from the Division of Clinical Pharmacology, University of Cape Town, South Africa on 28 February 2019 at 09h00 South African Standard Time (SAST)

The goal was to provide researchers, especially those in academic settings, with a general background in data management and emphasize the importance of proper data management training and compliance. This topic is often under-emphasized in academic research settings. While students are busy with coursework and developing research skills, adequate training in how to manage data may get overlooked. Poor data management in a research setting can lead to loss of research data, inaccessibility of data, loss of data integrity, and duplication of research efforts. Such risks can be mitigated with proper procedures and training.
